Hi there! My name is Ruth, and I am a 35-year-old mom of two toddlers (hoping to expand our family!), and I suffer from mental illness. My diagnosis is one hell of an alphabet soup. With Bipolar-2, general anxiety disorder, clinical depression, SAD, ADHD, OCD tendencies, and PTSD, life can get... interesting.
I balance life and mental illness with a great care plan, including talk therapy and a tremendous medication plan. The proper care plan has been life-changing for me. In addition, my wonderful husband is a critical part of my support system, educating himself and learning along the way.
I have also found support in the online community I have created on TikTok and other social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram. A few response videos sent my account through the roof, connecting me with other people just like me. I didn't expect such a response and so many followers and supporters, but it just shows how many of us are tired of being quiet and ready to find ways to learn (and educate others) about mental health.
I am so excited to see where all of this will take me and hope that I will start to make a significant difference. I am a loud, tattooed, mentally ill woman who does not know how to be quiet. It's time to use that voice to make some much-needed changes and start to bring mental health and mental health awareness to the forefront of conversations. It's time to end the stigma and spread awareness.
